1808 Sash windows is a specialist division of The 1808 Property Services Company.
Steven Atkinson, founder, has been working with windows for 40 years and started out his career in the family business with “Uncle Alan”, completing his apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery at Bury Technical College in Greater Manchester, passing with Distinction.
Fast forward several decades and Steve has maintained his love of all things wood.

Although part of a larger building company, 1808 Sash Windows specialises in providing a much needed niche repair and restoration service of traditional timber sash windows in and around the Rutland and South Leicestershire area.

And if any of your windows prove to be beyond repair or you’re considering new windows, we can replace them with bespoke-made timber windows using traditional joinery methods.
And because of recent advances in manufacturing techniques enabling superior mouldings it is now possible to replicate the character of a traditional timber sash window whilst incorporating all the advantages of uPVC.
Although not our preferred recommendation for many properties, if timber just isn't an option and you've your heart set on a sash, you may be pleasantly surprised at just how good they can look .

Traditional sash windows are a thing of beauty and too many of them are lost prematurely due to a simple absence of satisfactory maintenance.
For sash windows to perform well there are several different components that all need to be working as they should.
If these components are maintained properly sash windows will be able to do their job and operate smoothly, opening without effort to let the fresh air in and closing securely to keep the elements out.
When things go wrong your windows can start to be awkward and become difficult to use. They may rattle, become draughty or vulnerable to rot and wood-destroying insects, or simply become unsightly with compromised putty or cracked panes.
A poorly maintained window can also become a target for intruders. Cracked panes, missing putty and malfunctioning closures, and locks can make access from the outside easier.
